#2205 here we go

Tonight was the first concert of the season at Red Butte Garden. I was on the clean-up crew. It's not such a terrible gig. You get to watch the whole concert, then you walk around picking up garbage with a bunch of other people and then you go home. The only bad thing about it is that it can be a late night which kind of sucks if it's a work night. But hearing live music is always fun and if you're tired at work the next day, well, that's what caffeine is for!

Tonight's show featured Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. I didn't know anything about them or their music but thanks to the magic that is Apple Music, I was able to listen to some of their songs today while I was driving around. The musicians are excellent. I would classify the genre as Americana Instrumental. Bela Fleck plays the banjo; the Flecktones play the other instruments. There is no singing. Wait...there was one song tonight with words. To tell you the truth, it all kinda sounded like one long song with tempo changes and emphasis on different instruments throughout. It's good music. It's perfect for reading or working. I admit that I read through the whole show, when I wasn't texting with Mom and Lizzie. There was a lady sitting near me that was knitting. Lots of people were sitting around eating and drinking and many people left when it got cold and started sprinkling. It wasn't too bad, weather-wise though, and as far as garbage goes, it was a very clean and tidy crowd. I appreciate that.

Tomorrow I will be back up at the Garden. I have missed out on recording blooms since I was in California last week, so I'll do blooms and then docent time. I've already been doing a bunch of volunteering, but now that the concerts have started, I feel like volunteer season is really in full swing.

Have a wonderful weekend!
